๐Ÿ“น Cameras in Displayee

See your business live โ€” your security cameras, right inside your dashboard and on your screens. Here's everything you need to know.

What is Displayee Cameras?

Displayee Cameras connects the security cameras you already have at your business to your Displayee account, so you can:

Will my cameras work?

Most wired camera systems and recorder boxes (NVR/DVR) work. The quick rule:

What you haveWorks?
A recorder box (NVR or DVR) with cameras plugged into it โ€” most systems from Amcrest, Reolink, Lorex, Swann, Hikvision, Dahua, TP-Link VIGI, and many no-name kitsYES
Wired Wi-Fi or PoE cameras (plugged into power) โ€” TP-Link Tapo & VIGI, Amcrest, Reolink wired modelsYES
Older XMEye-style DVR systemsUSUALLY โ€” we check during setup
Battery-powered Wi-Fi cameras (any brand)NO โ€” battery cams can't stream continuously
Ring, Nest, Wyze, Night OwlNO โ€” these brands lock their video to their own apps
Cameras that don't qualify? We can supply and install a compatible camera package for you โ€” ask about our camera kits. Everything we install is guaranteed to work with Displayee.

Getting set up

Setup is done for you โ€” there's nothing technical on your side.

  1. Quick check (15 min): our installer confirms your cameras or recorder are compatible, on-site or over the phone.
  2. Bridge install: we place the small Displayee Bridge box at your business and connect it to your network. It finds your cameras locally and creates the secure outgoing link. No changes to your router, no ports opened.
  3. Naming & placement: together we name each camera ("Register," "Kitchen," "Patio"...) and decide which ones appear in your dashboard and which also go on your screens.
  4. Done: your cameras appear in the Cameras tab of your dashboard immediately.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat it means / what to do
A camera tile says OFFLINEThat camera lost power or network. Check the camera's plug/cable first. If all cameras are offline together, see the next row.
ALL cameras offlineThe Bridge or your internet is down. Check that the Bridge box has its light on and your internet works. It reconnects automatically once power/internet returns โ€” no reconfiguration needed.
Video looks soft/blurry in the dashboardNormal โ€” live view uses an efficient stream so it loads instantly anywhere. Your recorder still records in full quality locally.
Live view takes 3โ€“5 seconds to startNormal on slower connections โ€” the first click "wakes" the stream. Once playing, delay is about a second.
A camera shows the wrong room nameThe account owner can rename cameras in Cameras โ†’ Manage, or contact support and we'll fix it.

Still stuck? Contact support from your dashboard โ€” we can see Bridge health remotely and usually spot the problem in minutes.

FAQ

Does this replace my recorder (NVR/DVR)?
No โ€” your recorder keeps recording exactly as before. Displayee adds live viewing and screen display on top. (Cloud clip storage is on our roadmap.)
Can my customers see my cameras?
Only if you put a camera tile on a public screen (like a kitchen cam on the lobby TV). Dashboard access is private to the people you authorize.
Does it slow down my internet?
Barely. Dashboard viewing only streams while you watch (~0.5 Mbps). A screen tile uses about 1 Mbps continuously โ€” less than one music-video stream.
What if I change my internet provider or router?
The Bridge reconnects automatically on almost any network change. If it doesn't come back within a few minutes, power-cycle it once.
Is my video stored in the cloud?
No. Live view is relayed in real time and not recorded by Displayee. Recording stays on your own recorder, in your building.
Can I add more cameras later?
Yes โ€” up to your plan's limit; upgrading takes one click. New cameras are usually added remotely, no visit needed.
What happens if I cancel?
Your cameras keep working exactly as they did before Displayee โ€” we only ever added to your system, never replaced it.
